What is editing

Editing is the selective process of choosing different shots and bringing  them together to tell a story. For example in a movie the editor will choose the best shots that can tell the story he wants

Elliptical editing  is when screen time is shorter by cutting out unnecessary action.

Long shots are used to show the background and the people in the shot. For example if someone did a long shot of my class it will show the different gender and race of the people in my class

non-diagetic sound is a sound that a person cant hear from for example

The shots that are used to show that she is picking up the ring is eye line matching this can be seen from the angle of the shot

Over head establishing shot achieves it helps the audience know the location of the scene for example in Eastenders they show the whole square to show the characters are on albert square.

Shot reverse shot is going back an forward between a person by cutting  for example in the movie hustle they used shot reverse shot during a conversation

the editor choses cuts to there member of groups to face expression and to see a conversation in a group. For example in the movie hustle they showed everyone different reaction to the plan

Eye line matching the camera makes it look like there too people looking at each other

the wipe is a transaction to two different location.

The effects of using quick cut creates a fast rhythm and a fast pace it can create tension in a movie. For example in an action movie they will use quick cuts in a fight scene.

Jump cut is a moment of discontinuity in an edit for example in the documentary the editor using jump cut to make the viewer see the anger in the bodybuilder face.

A flashback in a film was in the charlie in the chocolate factory  it shows willy wonker having a flash back as a kid being able to eat chocolate

A linear narrative means it goes in a straight line.

Dissolve is when a shot fades away

Continuity is when there a clip with out any jump cuts.

Flash forward is when there clip going to into the future.
Cut away is when the clip cuts away the main film
